Journey Through Scents: Western Sicily's Olfactory Tapestry at International Tourism Fair

Western Sicily, with its captivating scents, fragrances, and aromas, becomes the narrative at the upcoming International Tourism Fair in Milan from February 4 to 6. The Western Sicily Tourism District, alongside four other Sicilian Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), will showcase its olfactory identity with a dedicated desk and space within the Sicilian Regional stand. Here, they will engage with industry professionals, distribute informational material, and present the rich tourism offerings and upcoming events.

Event Highlights:
Two talks are scheduled during the fair—on Sunday (at 14:30) and Tuesday (at 11:00). These sessions will provide a platform for institutional guests, private operators, mayors, and local representatives to introduce the distinctive features of the West of Sicily destination and outline the planned events for the year.

Olfactory Exploration:
The focus of attention will be on the ancient art of salt production and the properties of natural salt used for well-being. Additionally, products related to cosmetics crafted from typical essences, the aromas in gastronomy, and the scents of wine will take center stage. This immersive experience aims to unveil a different facet of the region's identity to both visitors and specialized press.

Cultural and Recreational Emphasis:
The province will also be highlighted for its rich cultural scene, theatrical activities, sports, and tourist routes that showcase the architectural heritage, history, archaeology, nature, gastronomy, and religious traditions.

President's Statement:
President Rosalia d'Alì emphasizes the innovative approach of presenting Western Sicily through an olfactory journey involving various local companies. The Bit (Borsa internazionale del Turismo) will provide a dedicated space for tourism initiatives, a tasting area for local products, and talk sessions featuring mayors. The collaboration with the Sicilian Regional Tourism Department, led by Elvira Amata, is acknowledged for its crucial support.

Future Initiatives:
The district has initiated contacts with operators from North America and Northern Europe, promising collaborations in the near future. President D'Alì expresses the commitment to collective action for the benefit of the entire territory, involving mayors, partners, and operators in the ongoing efforts.

This immersive presentation at the International Tourism Fair encapsulates not just the scenic beauty of Western Sicily but also its olfactory tapestry, offering visitors a unique and multisensory experience.
